Top MRes - Master of Research

Introduction

Master of Research or MRes is a postgraduate research degree in a specific academic discipline. A Master of Research degree in the field of medicine for example is especially useful to those clinicians who wish to develop academic research skills, progress to PhD study or to enter competitive specialities such as Surgery or Public Health. This program is also useful for graduates, men and women or young professional considering a career in a commercial area where research is a key focus but a PhD is not specifically required. Master of Research or MRes programs are different from taught Master's degrees by placing particular emphasis on a large dissertation or an equivalent practice-led research project, in addition to some taught modules. These paths are geared to boys and girls wishing to pursue a research career afterwards. Students are required to attend one year fulltime the master's degree lessons in order to obtain specialization needed.

The new, re-emerging and recurring global health threats that we are facing require a long-term, more strategic approach to global health preparedness. Underlying the problem is the growing interaction between human and animal populations driven by growth in the human population, new trends in animal production practices, changing patterns of wildlife populations, human intrusion on new ecosystems, and trans-border mobility of humans, animals, food and feed products.
