The MA in Theatre and Performance is an innovative programme that is committed to socially-engaged and critically inventive exploration into theatre and performance.The programme is interdisciplinary in its scope, and provides students with a range of opportunities to analyse and create theatre and performance in relation to a wide variety of critical contexts and cultural and historical perspectives.

You will have access to postgraduate-only facilities which include the Lock-keeper's Cottage Graduate Centre, with the use of a common room and interdisciplinary training workshops. The Learning Resource Centre has 200 networked PCs and is open to students round the clock with dedicated workstations for postgraduate students.

You will also have access to Queen Mary's comprehensive libraries, including the Postgraduate Reading Room, and The British Library can also be accessed as a research resource.

Our teaching takes place in state-of-the-art facilities, including the Film and Drama Studio, the Pinter Studio Theatre, and a suite of purpose-built rehearsal rooms.

The programme will:

  • Offer you a range of potential career outcomes. You will be given a solid grounding for further study in theatre and performance, while you will also have the opportunity to undertake work placements in the cultural industries
  • Allow you to develop both theoretical and practical projects to advance your own research or career agendas
