The Clinical Pharmacy programmeay University of manchester promotes excellence in the clinical, leadership and research skills of pharmacists.Student's clinical knowledge is enhanced and skills in the optimisation of therapy and problem solving are developed. A variety of optional course units further develop clinical knowledge and explore topics such as health economics, developing other professionals, organisational influences on healthcare and research.This is a distance learning programme which is accessible online. In most cases, students have complete flexibility about when to undertake their learning; however there are some activities which require being online at specific times.The programme is run on a part-time basis; students are expected to commit to a minimum of 10 hours of study time per week.

Aims

The programme aims to enable students to develop

  • advanced knowledge and understanding of the management of a range of chronic conditions;
  • skills in medicines optimisation and be able to communicate with a range of healthcare professionals to promote the appropriate use of medicines
  • skills in the critical evaluation of a range of health services literature.

All applicants must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • have an honours degree in pharmacy at a minimum level of 2:2 or equivalent
  • be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (UK) or equivalent regulatory authority in the student's home country for international students
  • be in employment in a patient-facing capacity whilst enrolled on the programme
