Our MSc in Engineering will build on your broad engineering background, giving you a greater depth of knowledge and experience. You can study this course full-time over one year or part-time over two years, to suit your work and personal life.
The course is made up of four compulsory modules, two optional modules and a dissertation, ensuring that you have covered the essentials, but also had the opportunity to tailor your studies to your interests. Theoretical lectures and seminars are reinforced by engineering examples and case studies and the use of our computer simulation tools and laboratories.
This degree has been accredited by IMechE under licence from the UK regulator, the Engineering Council. Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for eventual registration as an Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng). Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.
Schedule and Assessments
Sessions are held for one or two days per week, depending on your module choices. You will be assessed through coursework, oral presentations, group work, practical reports, critical reviews, and a substantial individual research project.
Engineering and associated industries are experiencing a major short fall in well qualified graduates, this has produced a significant demand for flexible individuals with relevant knowledge and expertise. Companies of all sorts now require professional engineers to design, acquire, install, operate, and manage engineering systems. The career opportunities for graduates from this course are, therefore, very good.
